Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini yoga is a very old form of yoga that is only being practiced in the west recently. In the year 1968, Yogi Bhajan invented 3H’O i.e., Healthy, Happy, Holy Organization to introduce this yoga form to a broader population. Although Kundalini had not previously been trained in the public, Yogi Bhajan felt that everybody should get the opportunity to enjoy its benefits.

Kundalini yoga is a form of physical and thoughtful yoga that comprises of different techniques using the soul, body and our senses. The Kundalini energy usually signifies as a snake coiled at the base of the spine. This yoga gives special consideration to the role of the endocrine system and the spine. They are both essential parts for yoga awakening.

Kundalini yoga poses:

Lotus or Padmasana pose:

  • First you need to lift your left foot onto your upper right thigh.
  • Now place your right foot on your left thigh as close to your body as much as possible.
  • Your right leg should always be on top.
  • This locked posture is easier to do than it appears and it enhances deep meditation.

Easy or Sukasana pose:

  • Cross your legs comfortably with the ankles or both feet on the ground.
  • Now keep your back straight by pressing the lower spine forward.
  • This asana will help to improve your spine. Practice this asana for 3 minutes.

Rock or Vajrasana Pose:

  • First you need to kneel down and sit on your heels.
  • It should pressurize the nerves in the middle of the buttocks.
  • This pose has an effect on the digestive system and helps to improve your immunity.

Celibate or Hero Pose:

  • You need to keep your feet apart.
  • Kneel down and sit between the feet.
  • If you’re sitting on a chair, make sure that both of your feet are evenly placed on the floor, and keep your spine straight.
  • This posture also helps to improve your spine.

Perfect or Siddhasana pose:

  • Your right heel should press the perineum against your left thigh.
  • Left heel should be placed on top of the right heel.
  • Your knees should be on the floor with your heels above the other.
  • This is considered as one of the most comfortable asana for many practitioners and is believed to promote the mental ability to focus.

Kundalini Yoga will make you strong physically as well as mentally. It’s recommended by the yoga trainers to practice Kundalini Yoga at least 3 times a week.
