Yoga to set free from Diabetes: Yoga provides an alternate source of curing diabetes. Yoga helps to improve your immune system, blood circulation and the flow of essential energy to the different organs of the body. The secretion of anxiety hormones, due to poor diet, busy lifestyle or negative thoughts can be controlled by performing yoga on a regular basis.

There are two types of Diabetes:

Type 1

In this type of Diabetes, there is no secretion of insulin.

Type 2

Here the pancreas does not secrete enough insulin. In several cases, it is also easy to overlook diabetes in its beginning stage, particularly, when you do not experience any symptoms. The practice of yoga is the best way to prevent from Type 2 diabetes, where the causes are ascribed to life style and pressure.

Useful Asanas for diabetes:


Paschimotasana is basically a sitting asana also referred as “frontward seated bend”. This asana is best for those who are suffering from diabetes. It is known to arouse the functioning of the internal parts like liver, kidney and pancreas.

How to perform this Asana:

  • First you need to sit comfortably on a yoga mat with a comfortable position and your legs should be outstretched in front.
  • Now slowly bend your head to touch your knees slowly and finally exhale.
  • Hold your toes with your fingers. Stay in this position for a few breaths and inhale slowly when you get back to the original position.


For best result, Practice this asana at least 4 times a day.

Mayurasana also known as The peacock pose:

This asana helps to tone up your internal organs like Kidney, liver and Pancreas. It also helps to treat stomach disorders, which improves immunity and digestion.

How to perform this Asana:

  • You first need to lie on your abdomen.
  • Now with the support of your palms on the floor, lift your entire body above the floor. Make sure your body remains parallel to the floor.


This asana may appear frightening for the beginner, but with proper guidance from an expert and with regular practice, the asana becomes like child’s play.

Shalabhasana also known as The Locust:

This particular asana helps to cure acidity. It is also known to set you free from nervous tension and indigestion.

How to perform this Asana:

  • First you need to lie on the floor with your abdomen touching the yoga mat.
  • Now slowly rest your chin on the ground with your arms at the sides. The heels and toes should be held together.
  • Now inhale and lift your both legs above the ground. While lifting the legs, stress must be applied on the fists.
  • Stay in this particular position for a few seconds and come back to the original position.
  • Now relax and feel the stretch on the back.


Make sure you use a yoga mat for sitting postures.

Problem of Diabetes is increasing day by day. It’s a myth that only aged people suffer from Diabetes. Nowadays children are also suffering from this problem.
